A comprehensive analysis based on user centric testing
Through our extensive Battery protocol, we evaluate all aspects of autonomy (how long a charge lasts = battery life), charging (how long it takes to recharge) and efficiency (how effectively the device manages its power during charge up and discharge).
We run various tests along specific and typical usage scenarios from real users:
- Along a typical usage scenario simulating the day of an average user (with periods of activity and of “idle”, just as a normal user would do).
- Evaluating different situation of usage: at home / in the office, on the go to evaluate the impact of mobile networks
- Evaluating how much autonomy is recovered in a quick 5-minute charge
Using state of the art laboratories in controlled conditions
At DXOMARK, our robust test protocol is run in fully controlled conditions to ensure repeatability.
For example, our autonomy tests are
- Run inside a Faraday cage, helping us to control network and Wi-Fi networks and avoiding disturbances and impact from other networks. We use a network repeater inside the cage to simulate network conditions.
- Run through Touch robots, simulating the actual usage of a smartphone like any user would do (scrolling, tapping, swiping). They are equipped with computer vision and can recognize any app or pop up. No intrusive app is installed, it’s just like a user using his / her phone.

- Estimation of autonomy based on an average usage scenario from a typical user

- Measurement of your wired & wireless charging times: 0-80%, 0-100%, 0% to Full charge, Quick boosts (5-minute charge)
