An iterative process with multiple rounds of testing
Often overlooked, tuning plays a key role in the quality of the end-user experience. Through multiple rounds of testing, DXOMARK will help lead the way to reaching your device’s full potential before it reaches the market.
Main steps include:
- Identifying your display quality targets
- Testing your prototype on the DXOMARK Display protocol by running 400 objective and perceptual measurements in four technical attributes: readability, color, touch, and video
- Assessing the product’s strengths and identifying the key areas of improvement that should be tackled for an enhanced overall performance and achievement of the desired targets
Depending on the needs and targets, multiple rounds can be planned to finetune specific elements of the experience.
Get independent DXOMARK Expertise on specific technological topics
With emerging technologies and usages such as readability outdoors and HDR10 video playback experience, DXOMARK can help you identify key areas of improvements to reach your targets.
At each round of the process, get access to full reports with key metrics helping you to understand your performance.
For HDR video playback performance, for example, we focus on the following metrics:
- EOTF measurements run in our bench, evaluating the quality of the rendering of dark tones, mid tones and highlights.
- Brightness measurements are also run on our bench, making sure that the device features the right level of luminance depending on the lighting conditions
- Along with objective measurements run in our bench, we also run perceptual analysis on a professional screen used by the movie industry and reflecting perfectly the artistic intent in terms of brightness, contrast and others. Your device is then compared to the rendering of different video patterns produced by DXOMARK to identify how close you stand vs. the artistic intent
