Resolution is a key factor in evaluating cameras and lenses. However, flat test charts can lead to subpar images for wide-angle and telephoto lenses due to issues like field of view, distortion, and distance. This All-in-One Automatic Camera Tester addresses these challenges by incorporating a rotatable collimator and a 6-axis alignment fixture, enabling thorough image quality analysis across various angles, positions, and distances.
The system automates image capture by rotating the collimator’s slanted edge to various angles and positions relative to the camera. This process captures images from multiple perspectives, enabling the automated analysis of Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) data for different camera positions. Furthermore, by utilizing the center dot of the test chart, the system can create an image entirely composed of dots. This allows for precisely assessing distortion data for wide-angle cameras at consistent intervals. Beyond these tests, the system can also measure other indicators such as Field of View (FOV), Spatial Frequency Response (SFR), Chromatic Aberration (CA), and Through-Focus.
The equipment package includes a computer with a Windows operating system, a rotatable collimator, a six-axis automated alignment platform, an image grabber for camera analysis, and control and analysis software capable of generating automated reports.
