SOLUTIONS

A complete lab suite for measuring, benchmarking and optimizing image quality
A pioneer of digital camera testing equipment, DXOMARK continues to develop and enhance its flagship product, Camera Analyzer, which comprises image quality evaluation software, equipment, and testing protocols for such camera industries as aerospace, automotive, consumer photo and video, medical, smartphone, computer vision, action camera, defense, surveillance, and more. Major industry players have used and continue to use our Analyzer solution extensively since its appearance more than 20 years ago, and our own benchmarking team uses it to provide the content on dxomark.com
Our equipment and protocols are designed and regularly upgraded to meet all the challenges of new features delivered by the latest imaging technologies. Fast, accurate, automated and repeatable, Analyzer’s modular and highly configurable system works with both RAW and processed data, making it a uniquely helpful tool for tuning your image signal processing (ISP). Processing both still images and videos automatically, Analyzer combines mandatory features with optional premium services such as custom configuration design, lab installation, on-site training, and online image quality support.

Analysis software
The core value of our Analyzer software is the inclusion of a full library of image quality evaluation metrics, from standard ones to advanced and proprietary metrics. All measurements are processed on automatically detected regions of interest. Our software is designed to optimize and reduce operation time to insure high repeatability. It is modular and comes in several packages that cover many aspects of image quality evaluation:

Resolution, Sharpness & Texture
Our metrics will help you to determine how well the image captured fine details (MTF measure), maintain clarity (blur measure), and represent surface characteristics (texture measure),…

Noise & Tone Curves
Noise quality metrics measure unwanted variations impacting uniformity, while tone curve metrics assess tonal balance and dynamic range for accurate shadows, midtones, and highlights

Dynamic Range & Contrast
Dynamic range and contrast metrics assess how a camera captures details in both bright and dark areas (dynamic range), and how contrast is preserved (local contrast gain). Together, they ensure the image has a balanced representation of highlights, shadows, and overall tonal variation for all SDR and HDR formats.

Color
Color is a key aspect of image quality that affects the aesthetic and computer vision performances, ensuring color fidelity that matches real-life colors, maintaining the consistency, and stability of colors despite changes in lighting conditions,…

3A (Exposure, Focus & White Balance)
3A metrics refer to the Auto Exposure (AE), Auto White Balance (AWB), and Auto Focus (AF) are designed to automatically adjust key image parameters to achieve well-exposed, color-accurate, and sharply focused images, enhancing overall visual performance in varying conditions.

Flare
Flare metrics evaluate the amount of unwanted light scattering or glare in an image, often caused by direct light sources. It can reduce image contrast and detail, especially in bright areas, impacting overall image quality and performances.

Timing
Timing quality metrics include exposure time, frame rate, and time lags. These tests allow for the analysis of motion fluidity and the measurement of delays in real-time synchronization for image or video capture.

Depth
Depth quality metrics are used to assess the accuracy and precision of depth information in an image or video, which represents the distance of objects from the camera. Those metrics are crucial for 3D imaging, computer vision, or any application requiring an understanding the spatial relationship between objects.

Flicker
Flickering metrics assess the rapid variations in brightness or color that occur over time, often due to lighting or display issues. It can disrupt visual stability and degrade the viewing experience, particularly in video or real-time applications.

Motion
Motion quality metrics evaluate how well an image or video captures smooth, realistic motion, assessing factors like motion blur and frame consistency. They are crucial for ensuring stabilization and accurate representation of movement, especially in dynamic scenes.

Geometry
Texture and edge acutance, various noise metrics (SNR, dynamic range, tonal range), color fidelity, white balance accuracy, and edge MTF at different shooting distances.

Real-life Scenes
Evaluating how well an image or video represents a scene in a way that aligns with human visual perception is crucial. Perceptual metrics assess how the scene’s overall quality matches human perception and visual expectations in real-world settings.
All our results are available as Python dictionaries in Workflow Manager or in different formats such as Excel, HTML, and PDF in Analyzer graphical Interface or in AZV (JSON compatible files).
We have also developed metrics that fully comply with these standards: IEEE-CPIQ 1858, IEEE-P2020, ISO 12232, ISO 12233, ISO 14524, ISO 15739, ISO 15781, ISO 17321-1, ISO 17850, ISO 17957, ISO 19084, CIPA DC-11.
Our software is provided with many kinds of user interfaces to cover our customers’ needs. You can integrate and customize the metrics presented here into your own workflow. Analyzer can also help you develop your own measurements.
