3D Imaging Test Results: Evaluating the Spatial Resolution of ToF and Stereo Cameras

News

April 2, 2025

DXOMARK recently assessed two drone cameras—the DJI Mavic 3E and 3T wide-angle cameras—for Outflier, leveraging our cutting-edge testing solutions, including our LED timer box, DOT chart, and Analyzer Image Quality Software.

Key Evaluations

1. Distortion Measurement – DJI Mavic 3E RGB Wide-Angle Camera
Outflier requires high precision in distortion model estimation for accurate 3D reconstruction, which cannot be achieved using the drone’s internal distortion compensation. Our distortion measurement on a flat DOT chart provides the necessary precision for optimal results.

2. Electronic Rolling Shutter (ERS) – DJI Mavic 3T RGB Wide-Angle Camera
To evaluate the ERS effect, we captured images using our fully automated LED timer box. Our software then calculated the ERS impact by measuring frame offsets from top to bottom, ensuring a precise analysis of rolling shutter distortions.
