iCatch, a leading provider of imaging and vision solutions and DXOMARK, the global authority in image quality evaluation as well as provider of imaging solutions, have entered into a strategic collaboration to establish the first All-in-one VideoCall image quality performance evaluation lab in Taïwan. Installed at iCatch facilities, this new laboratory will enable iCatch to design and fine tune the next generation of Image Signal Processors (ISPs) with the objective of helping the ecosystem deliver best-in-class video call experiences to end users.
The laboratory is powered by DXOMARK’s video call and image quality evaluation protocol for laptops, which uniquely combines objective measurements with perceptual testing. This dual approach allows iCatch to design, validate, and optimize its imaging algorithms against real-world use cases reproduced in fully controlled environments. This ensures that video call performance is aligned with user expectations, delivering natural, authentic, and inclusive image rendering. This installation represents the first DXOMARK video call performance lab of its kind deployed in Taiwan.
The laboratory integrates unique features, instrumental in the product development process of iCatch. On the objective metrics side, it includes a brand-new all-in-one setup that consolidates multiple measurement capabilities into a single streamlined system, supported by state-of-the-art equipment to ensure accurate, repeatable, and reliable results. AI-based detail preservation metrics are used to deliver realistic image quality assessments, while full protocol automation guarantees testing efficiency and consistency across evaluations.
Complementing these measurements, the perceptual shooting setup recreates DXOMARK’s real-life shooting scenarios within controlled environments. It includes scenes featuring challenging lighting conditions such as low light, to reflect authentic user experiences. The setup also ensures representation of diverse skin tones, supporting inclusive rendering, and simulates a wide range of usage scenarios, including one-on-one calls, family calls, and group meetings.
Using the DXOMARK videocall / image quality evaluation protocol for laptops combining the unique approach of DXOMARK through objective as well as perceptual testing, iCatch can test, validate or optimize its algorithms against real world scenarios in controlled environments. This will ensure that the experience is fully adapted to users’ expectations looking for natural, authentic, as inclusive renderings.
By combining automation with perceptual evaluation, the laboratory significantly accelerates iCatch’s innovation pipeline. It reduces development cycles and enables faster deployment of advanced imaging features, including low-light optimization, AI-driven enhancements, and improved rendering of diverse skin tones. Ultimately, this collaboration ensures that every tuning decision is grounded in scientific rigor and validated against real-world user experience.
“The iCatch DXOMARK Videocall Lab illustrates our shared ambition to lead innovation in video communication. By combining DXOMARK’s scientific expertise with advanced lab capabilities, we provide iCatch with a facility that delivers precision, automation, and perceptual evaluations at the core of their development process,” said Laurent Chanas, Technical Director at DXOMARK.
“Integrating DXOMARK’s image quality evaluation framework fundamentally elevates how we design and validate imaging performance,” said CY Wu, CTO at iCatch. “This laboratory is not just an infrastructure investment; it is a key engine that transforms user perception into actionable innovation for our ThetaEye AI™ ISP and imaging algorithm development.”
